Location Protocols

There are three types of protocols which can be used for encoding beacon position data, as well as identification data, in the digital message transmitted by a 406 MHz distress beacon. These three protocol types are referred to as:

User Location Protocols (available only in long format messages);
Standard Location Protocols (available only in long format messages); and
National Location Protocols (available only in long format messages).
