The status of System components is monitored on a continuous basis using 406-MHz transmissions of orbitography and reference beacons. Nodal Mission Control Centres run an automated data analysis and assessment procedure daily on a dataset collected in a defined time window, which varies by assessment type.
To be depicted as conforming, the availability for a LEOLUT/satellite pair shall be greater than or equal to 80% for at least one of the most recent 4 three-day periods. Four consecutive three-day periods with a non-conforming calculation (< 80%) are required for a LEOLUT/satellite pair to be declared non-conforming and listed as such on the QMS status board of the Cospas-Sarsat website. No data is suppressed as a consequence of a non-conforming availability status.
To be depicted as conforming, the availability for a GEOLUT/satellite pair shall be greater than or equal to 80% for at least one of the most recent 4 one-day periods. Four consecutive days with a non-conforming calculation (< 80 %) are required for a GEOLUT/satellite pair to be declared non-conforming and listed as such on the QMS status board of the Cospas-Sarsat website. No data is suppressed as a consequence of a non-conforming availability status.
To continue to be depicted as conforming, the Doppler location accuracy for a LEOLUT/satellite pair that is currently deemed conforming shall meet the following requirements over the subsequent three-day period:
- The 5 km accuracy ratio shall be greater than or equal to 60%.
- The 20 km accuracy ratio shall be greater than or equal to 80%.
To be depicted as conforming, the Doppler location accuracy for a LEOLUT/satellite pair that is currently deemed non-conforming shall meet the following requirements over the subsequent three-day period:
- The 5 km Doppler location accuracy ratio shall be greater than or equal to 95%.
- The 10 km Doppler location accuracy ratio shall be greater than or equal to 98%.
Data from LEOLUT/satellite pairs that do not meet these requirements are suppressed.
Note: It is recognised that the 3-day data requirement to compute the accuracy ratio may introduce a three-day latency for resuming Doppler location data distribution after the LEOLUT nonconformity is corrected.
Note: On occasion, satellite downlink signals will be switched off or LUTs/MCCs will undergo planned maintenance or software upgrades. In these cases the non-conforming status of the LUTs and MCCs should be taken in context.”
