QMS Objectives

To ensure coherent and reliable System operation, Cospas-Sarsat Ground Segment Providers perform routine and periodic System monitoring to ensure ground segment equipment meets performance standards. In addition, Cospas-Sarsat maintains a Quality Management System (QMS).

The procedures for continuous monitoring and objective assessment of the System which form the basis of the QMS are described in section 2 of document C/S A.003 “Cospas-Sarsat System Monitoring and Reporting". Cospas-Sarsat is committed to maintaining a System that provides accurate, timely and reliable distress alert and location data, as stated in the Cospas-Sarsat Quality Policy, provided in section 4 of document C/S P.015 “Cospas-Sarsat Quality Manual”.

The Cospas-Sarsat Quality Management System (QMS) objectives stated at section 7 of the document C/S P.015 "Cospas-Sarsat Quality Manual"  are to:

  • ensure that Cospas-Sarsat consistently provides accurate, timely and reliable distress alert and location information to search and rescue  authorities, and
  • continually improve the overall Cospas-Sarsat System Performance.
